Corporate Accountant

Job Summary
The Corporate Accountant will perform a variety of accounting tasks related to the corporate entities, including bank and GL account reconciliations. This role will be responsible for recording journal entries, managing fixed asset accounting, and performing research and analysis projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform bank reconciliations for corporate entities and assist on property level bank reconciliations when needed
- Manage all fixed asset accounting functions, including booking additions and depreciation expense quarterly, writing off sold assets, and reviewing expense accounts for capitalizable items
- Record corporate wire transfers, credit card transactions, internal cash transfers, and intercompany activity
- Book consolidating and other corporate-level journal entries, including accruals and eliminations
- Monitor business licenses and sales taxes, submitting filings when appropriate
- Perform account reconciliations of corporate-level accounts
- Perform report analysis on the general ledger to resolve unreconciled amounts
- Perform special projects as needed
- Assist the Controller and Accounting Manager with the annual audit
- Assist in compiling the quarterly reports in accordance with GAAP
- Update Excel spreadsheets as needed for journal entry support and balance sheet account tie-outs
Qualifications (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience)
- 3 or more years of relevant accounting experience
- MRI or Yardi experience preferred
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Must be self-directed, motivated, and logical in problem-solving; well-organized with attention to detail; follow through with assignments
- Able to communicate effectively with managers and coworkers
